The world eats away at itself. Humanity gnaws the flesh off its own bones. We have named a ruler, and its name is Strife.
Have you not experienced this? Are you not in despair at the state of the world?
Many have come before who have sought to dethrone Strife, to cease the senselessness of eating our own flesh. They have offered up visions for humanity, some hopeful and some horrifying. And yet, to fashion the world according to our own visions is always a contested act. This is the tyranny of Strife. Those who seek its end reinforce its rule.
What then can we do?
Here lies the mercy and wisdom of God, who bids us all to come to repentance. Rather than fashioning the world according to our own visions, we repent that the strife and suffering all around us is bound up in this very act. Repentance kneels before God and invites Deliverance—God fashioning us and the world back into His eternal vision, where every strain of Strife gives way to a singular Shalom.
