Have we encountered Jesus in our lives but rather than follow Him choose to walk along the Way in the opposite direction?
Among His “followers” is not the truth of God at times abused to divert attention from rotten truths about ourselves, the law of God to justify lawlessness in defending it, the authority of God to reject undesirable authority, the kingdom of God to label and destroy enemies, the love of God to maintain the lifestyles that harm our neighbors, God’s promised restoration of the world to exploit it?
The most damnable way of all is the reversed Way, where we use God to achieve the exact opposite of what He intends, where we begin as sinners and turn into savage hypocrites.
“I never knew you; depart from me…”
Oh Jesus, lay us bare before You. Save us from our deceitful and desperately sick hearts. Turn and sustain us in the right direction, the true Way.
