There is not much to say about my writing or me, but I understand that some context may be helpful.
My main purpose in writing is to wrestle against my own proclivities towards despair and disarray. My writing is an often unsuccessful attempt to grasp for hope and truth—however minuscule, incomplete, or imprecise—to endure the long night in which we find ourselves.
With how dark the night has become (or perhaps has always been), I felt that leaving out my makeshift lantern for passersby could not hurt, especially if you are as weary as me. I pray that a little of the light may encourage or aid you in some way.
Of course I do not expect that you (nor even I in retrospect) will find this lantern encouraging or agreeable. It is only a makeshift one. That it lives on a website confers no special importance or veracity to it. More often those without websites and platforms—those most on the margins in our world—have the most beautiful hearts and deepest wisdom to offer us.
In addition to my own writing, I occasionally share excerpts from things I read. If my lantern emits little to no valuable light, I hope the writings of others will make up for my deficiencies. While sharing an excerpt does not mean that I concur with everything the writer has said or stands for, I generally have found it encouraging or insightful.
